The technical skills and knowledge: someone who has an advanced understanding of jQuery, PHP/MySQL, xcache, Linux and Apache.Not only you must understand these but how to use them in conjunction with Web standards, performance tuning and refactoring. you should also be familiar with or have the ability to disassemble the Facebook, Twitter and other popular APIs.

Academic skills and knowledge: you should be able to understand, speak and write English at a good level. you must also be very good at math and have a background on your computer.

The ideal candidate would also have some experience in

-Cloud computing (AWS experience)
-Ruby on Rails
-Smarty probably or CakePHP for content management and templating
-Creating an application from scratch
-Sizing an applications
-Large data stores
-AJAX
-Performance tuning
